SA-1 for Class 7 begins this Thursday, 1 October. It has come round much sooner than last year, when the exams were at the end of October, and many Class 7 children have hardly had time to settle into the new lessons. If you are a parent wondering how to help your child in these last few days, a couple of practice papers at home is honestly the best thing you can do.
So we have prepared two full sets of model question papers, Set A and Set B, for every Class 7 subject. Maths, General Science and Social Studies are given in both English medium and Telugu medium. The Telugu, Hindi and English papers are common to both mediums. All the questions come from the SCERT Telangana Class 7 textbooks, and each paper is a free PDF you can download and print.
Class 7 SA-1 Timetable 2026-27
The School Education Department issued the SA-1 schedule on 15 September 2026 (Rc. No. 7002/EVL/SCERT/TG/2016). Class 7 writes in the afternoon, from 1:15 PM to 4:00 PM. Unlike the higher classes, Class 7 starts with the language papers and ends with Social Studies.

There is no exam on 2 October (Gandhi Jayanti) or on Sunday the 4th, and Class 7 has nothing on 9 October either. The Dussehra holidays start on 10 October. So the week looks like this: languages first, then Maths, Science and Social one after the other from Tuesday. A child who is shaky in Maths still has the weekend to practise, but it helps to start now rather than on Sunday night.

Lessons Covered
We could not find an official SA-1 portion for Class 7 this year, so the papers cover roughly the first half of each textbook, the part most schools finish by the end of September. Please check with your child’s teacher, because some schools may have stopped a lesson or two earlier. The portion is printed at the top of every paper, so it is easy to skip anything your school has not taught yet.

How the Papers Are Set
Every paper is for 80 marks and 2 hours 45 minutes. In Class 7, Science is still a single subject, so there is one General Science paper and not separate Physics and Biology papers as in the higher classes.
Each paper has two parts. Part A (60 marks) is written in the answer booklet. Part B (20 marks) has the short objective questions: choose the answer, fill in the blanks and match the following. These are answered on the question paper itself in the last half hour.

A few things to keep ready: a ruler and pencil for the bar graph in Maths and the diagrams in Science, and some practice with outline maps for Social Studies, because question 16 asks students to mark places on the map of India or the World.

Set A and Set B have different questions. Let your child write one at home like a real exam, and keep the other for a quick revision the day before.

A Few Words for Parents
At this age most children know more than they manage to write down. What usually goes wrong in the exam hall is time, nerves or carelessness, not a lack of knowledge. Some simple things help a lot:
- Since the exam is after lunch, make your child sit with a paper at home between 1:15 and 4:00 at least once. Children often feel sleepy in the afternoon, and it is better to find that out now.
- In Maths, ask them to write every step, even for easy sums. A wrong final answer with correct steps still gets marks.
- For the language papers, go over the format of a letter once: the address, date, greeting and closing. Leave letters and letters to friends come up again and again.
- In Science and Social, a neat labelled diagram or a correctly marked map often gets full marks, so give these a little practice.
- Remind them not to leave any objective question in Part B blank. A sensible guess is better than an empty bracket.
And please don’t make it a battle. A Class 7 exam matters, but a calm child always does better than a scared one.
