SA-1 is round the corner for Class 8 students in Telangana. The exams run from 1 October to 9 October this year, which is a good three weeks earlier than last year, and a lot of parents have been asking us for practice papers. So here they are.
We have put together two sets of model question papers, Set A and Set B, for every Class 8 subject. Maths, Physical Science, Biological Science and Social Studies are available in both English medium and Telugu medium. The Telugu, Hindi and English papers are common to both mediums. The questions are based on the SCERT Telangana Class 8 textbooks, and every paper is a free PDF you can download and print at home.
Class 8 SA-1 Timetable 2026-27
The School Education Department issued the SA-1 schedule on 15 September 2026 (Rc. No. 7002/EVL/SCERT/TG/2016). Class 8 follows the same dates as Classes 9 and 10 and writes in the morning, from 9:15 AM to 12:00 noon.

Maths comes first, on the very first day. After that there is a small break for Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October and a Sunday on the 4th, but from Monday the 5th the papers come one after another for five days. If your child is weak in Maths or Science, this weekend is the time to sort it out. There won’t be much room to do it once the exams start.
Dussehra holidays begin on 10 October and schools reopen after 22 October. If the department changes anything in the schedule, we will update it here.
Lessons Covered
These are the lessons generally prescribed for Class 8 SA-1 in Telangana. Do keep in mind that SA-1 was held at the end of October last year. With the exam starting on 1 October this time, some schools may not have finished the last lesson or two, so please check with your child’s teacher. The portion is also printed on top of every paper.

How the Papers Are Set
We have kept the same two-part pattern used for Classes 9 and 10. Part A is written in the answer booklet. Part B has the objective questions (choose the answer, fill in the blanks, match the following) and is answered on the question paper itself in the last half hour. It helps to get used to this format early, because it stays with them all the way to the SSC exam.

The Maths paper has one construction question (quadrilaterals) and one graph question (histogram), so a geometry box and a pencil are a must. In Social Studies, question 16 is a map question on the outline map of India or the World.

A Word to Students and Parents
Class 8 is often the year when marks suddenly dip. The syllabus gets heavier, Science splits into two subjects, and the papers get longer. That is normal, so don’t panic if the first practice paper doesn’t go well. That is exactly what practice papers are for.
A few things that make a real difference:
- Sit with the full paper once, with a clock, from 9:15 to 12:00. Most children know the answers but run out of time.
- Practise the diagrams in Science by hand: the plant and animal cell, the life cycle of the frog, the ray diagram for reflection. Neat labels get marks.
- In Maths, show every step. Even if the final answer goes wrong, the steps still earn marks.
- For the language papers, read the letter and essay questions carefully and write a few points on the side before you start. A letter without the proper format loses easy marks.
- Keep the last 30 minutes for Part B. Don’t leave any objective question blank.
