This year Class 8 in Andhra Pradesh is a little different. English, Maths, Science and Social now come from new textbooks, and many students (and quite a few parents) are not sure what the SA1 paper will look like. The old guides and last year’s question papers don’t match the new lessons any more.

So we wrote fresh Andhra 8th SA1 model question papers for 2026-27, based on the new books. Every subject has two separate model papers, and every paper has its own answer key. Where a question needs a diagram, a graph or a map, it’s printed right in the paper, and the keys show the labelled diagram or the answer map. Download links are in the table below. (తెలుగులో వెతికేవారి కోసం: 8వ తరగతి SA1 మోడల్ ప్రశ్నాపత్రాలు, జవాబులతో సహా.)

Please note: these are model papers written by our team for practice. They are not the official SA1 papers and not “leaked” papers. The real SA1 paper is set by SCERT and will be different, but the pattern will be the same.

Every subject has two papers, Set 1 and Set 2, each with its own answer key. Write Set 1 first, check it with Answer Key Set 1, and then move on to Set 2.

When is the AP SA1 Exam for Class 8?

SCERT has not announced the SA1 2026-27 timetable yet. Last year SA1 was held from 10 to 19 November 2025, with Classes 8 to 10 writing in the morning session. This year’s exam is also expected in November. Your school will share the exact dates once the department releases the schedule, and we will update this page when it comes.

If you start now, you have enough time to write both papers in every subject at home, the way you would in the exam hall.

AP 8th Class SA1 Syllabus 2026-27 (Subject-wise)

The model papers cover the Semester 1 lessons, the portion taught from June to October. The official SA1 syllabus circular for 2026-27 had not come out when we wrote these papers. If your school’s circular gives a different portion, go by the circular.

SA1 Question Paper Pattern for Class 8

Class 8 SA1 papers are for 80 marks, with four sections and a choice only in the last section. Physical Science and Biology are written as two separate papers of 40 marks each. Our model papers follow the same layout.

SubjectMarksQuestionsHow it is divided
Telugu, Hindi, English, Maths, Social8033Section A: 20 × 1 (objective), Section B: 4 × 2, Section C: 5 × 4, Section D: 4 × 8 (internal choice)
Physical Science401710 × 1, 3 × 2, 2 × 4, 2 × 8 (internal choice)
Biological Science401710 × 1, 3 × 2, 2 × 4, 2 × 8 (internal choice)

Our papers are set for 3 hours (80-mark papers) and 1 hour 30 minutes (each science paper). Check your school timetable for the exact timing.

A word about the new books: the questions are less about copying answers from a guide and more about thinking. In the new Maths book, for example, there are patterns with dots, paper-folding sums and old number systems like Roman numerals, not just the usual “find the square root”. We have included questions of that kind so they don’t surprise you in the exam.

What is in the Answer Keys

A list of correct options is not much use when you are checking your own paper. Each key shows what a full-mark answer looks like.

  • Maths: every sum worked out step by step, with step marks shown. All numbers checked twice.
  • Physical Science: numericals on pressure and weight solved fully; labelled diagrams of the circuit, the water-bottle activity and the air pressure activity.
  • Biology: labelled plant cell, animal cell, microscope and onion peel slide; value points for every long answer.
  • Social: an answer map for each set showing all the places in the map question, plus the completed timelines and Parliament chart.
  • English: grammar answers, answers to the poem and passage questions, and points to cover in letters, diary entries, stories and the bar graph paragraph.
  • Telugu and Hindi: సంధి, సమాసం, పర్యాయపదాలు / मुहावरे with sentences, answers to the unseen poems, and value points for lesson answers, letters and essays.

Teachers can use the keys for valuation too. Each key starts with a short note on how to award marks.

How to Use These Andhra 8th SA1 Model Papers

Reading a model paper along with its key feels like revision, but you don’t learn much that way. Try this instead.

  1. Finish the lessons first. Keep the model papers for the last two or three weeks before SA1.
  2. Write Set 1 in one sitting. Set a timer. No textbook, no guide, no phone.
  3. Correct it yourself with Answer Key Set 1. Be honest. If you missed a step or a label, cut the marks.
  4. Write down where you lost marks. Usually it is the same few things: a formula, a diagram label, a grammar item, the map.
  5. Work on only those, then write Set 2 a few days later and check it with Answer Key Set 2.

A few things that cost Class 8 students marks in SA1:

  • Section D has a choice in every question. Read both options before you start writing.
  • In Maths, show the prime factorisation or the steps even for short sums.
  • Science diagrams need labels. A cell drawn without labels gets only half the marks.
  • In Social, practise the map question on a blank outline map. Knowing that Plassey is in Bengal is not the same as finding it on the map.
  • In Telugu and Hindi letters, don’t forget place, date, greeting and closing. They carry marks.

Model Papers for Other Classes

We have also put together two model papers and answer keys for every subject in Class 9 and Class 10:

  • AP 9th class SA1 model papers 2026-27
  • Andhra 10th SA1 model question papers 2026-27
