Common Admission Test (CAT) is an aptitude test conducted by the IIMs on behalf of IIMCAT for admission to their Management programmes and over 1000 other b-schools in India. The CAT exam is considered as the largest MBA entrance test for those seeking admission in top MBA colleges of India. Any student who have completed their Graduation with at least 50% marks or is in the final year of their Graduation or awaiting results are eligible to apply for the XAT examination.

About the CAT Exam pattern:

• The CAT examination is conducted ONLINE at various centres across India. It is a duration of 3 hours and is held once every year. The CAT question paperconsists of 100 questions in MCQ format from Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension(VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning(DILR) and Quantitative Aptitude(QA).  Total marks of CAT exam paper is 300 where each question carries 3 marks. There is negative marking of -1 for each wrong answer. There is no deduction of marks in case a candidate chooses not to attempt a given question. Some questions in each section may not be MCQ (multiple choice type), and in such cases the answers need to be typed on the screen and there would not be negative marking. Each section has a time limit of 60 minutes’ post which the screen will automatically move to the next section.
