GATE Qualification is mandatory nowadays for seeking admission to
Master’s programs in Engineering/ Architecture/ Technology  and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies.

What is GATE?

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore along with seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of MHRD and Government of India to test the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various undergraduate subjects related to Science.

The score gained are valid for Three Years from the announcement of the results and they are accepted by many institutes across India.

The points to be known about GATE PE exam are:

• The exam is conducted ONLINE.
• It is a duration of 3 hours.
• Questions are divided into three sections: General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and Subject-specific part.
• Number of questions are 65 totaling to 100 marks
• Question type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions of 1 mark and 2-marks respectively. Be cautious on the marking scheme as MCQs carry negative marks, but NAT questions don’t attract negative marking.

Oil and Gas Well Testing: Diffusivity equation, derivation & solutions. Radius of investigation. Principle of superposition. Horner’s approximation. Drill Stem Testing. Pressure Transient Tests, Injection well testing, Gas well testing.

Health Safety and Environment in Petroleum Industry: Health hazards in Petroleum Industry, Safety System, Gas detection system. Fire detection and suppression systems.
