Govt. of Kerala conducts Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test  to ensure the persons recruited as teachers should possess the essential aptitude and ability to meet the challenges of teaching at all levels of schooling.   K-TET is an examination to assess the quality of teacher candidates for Lower Primary, Upper Primary and High School Classes in Kerala.

Exemption for Teachers from KTET

As per the latest order KTET is not required for aided school teachers, appointed before 31.03.2012. They are exempted from having KTET score as a qualification. All other teachers are required to get KTET score to be considered for appointment as a teacher in Kerala Govt. / Aided schools. The following points are relevent regarding to this

1. Aided school Teachers appointed before 31.03.2012 are exempted from KTET
2. Aided school Teachers who got approval in the academic year 2012-2013 must qualify for KTET before 2018
3. KTET is an essential qualification for appointment as teachers in Govt. Schools
4. Non Teaching staff in Education Department, who got appointment as teachers through cadre change must pass KTET before 2018.
