Australian Development Scholarships (ADS)

 

 

 

Since 1997 Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) have replaced most scholarships previously offered by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), including ASTAS and ADCOS. Selectioon criteria for these scholarships' varies for which information is available from the Australian High Commission, New Delhi. Applicants in each category are chosen on academic merit and meeting selection criteria developed jointly by AusAID and the Indian Government. Half the scholarships are awarded to men and the other half reserved for women. ADS facilities are offered by all the universities in Augustralia to students pursuing a technical, language, graduate or postgraduate courses. These include Technical Training Institutions, covering tuition fees, air fare, health insurance and maintenance allowance.

Support services provided: Education institutions provide support services to awardees. AIDAB monitors the awardees welt-being and academic progress and provides welfare and counselling support.

Immigration limitations: Awardees are provided with a special international student visa and must leave Australia at the completion of their award.

How to apply: Your first step should be to make enquiries with your country's nominating authority. Australian Education Centres and Australian Diplomatic Missions can provide you with its name and address. If you appear to be eligible, you should submit a nomination form to the authority through your employer.
