Research Scholarships

Field of Study: Mathematics (School of Mathematics)

Eligibility: A good Master's degree in Mathematics is required. However, B.Sc. degree holders of exceptional merit and students with Engineering degrees interested in pursuing Mathematics are also considered. Students appearing in relevant examination this year may also apply.

General Information: Final selection in made on the basis of written test/written test/interview to assess the aptitude for research.

Value: Research Scholars are paid a scholarship, which is currently Rs. 3700/ - per month (likely to be revised). There is in addition an annual contingency education grant of Rs 7500/- tenable upto five years. The Research Scholars are also eligible for hostel accommodation at nominal charges and railway fare.

Period:The Admission is initially for a period of one year during which inroductory courses on basic areas of mathematics are given. A second assessment is made at the end of the second year based on which the student may be offered a further extention.
