Areas of study under the School of Natural Sciences: Theoretical studies in physics and Astrophysics. Experimental studies in Astronomy. High Energy Cosmic Ray Physics, High Energy Physics Gravitation, Condensed Matter Physics, Semiconductor Physics, Nuclear Physics, Atomic, Molecular & Optical Sciences, Chemical and Biophysical Sciences.

Areas of study under the School of Technology and Computer Science: Algorithms & Complexity, Applications of Category Theory. Computational Mathematics, Computational geometry, Computer networks and architectures, Formal methods, Computer networks and architectures, Programming Languages and Systems, Real-Time Systems, Speech and Signal Processing. Symbolic Computation, and VLSI Synthesis.

Eligibility:

For all areas of Physics-M.Sc. in Physics (preferably first class).
For certain areas of Physics-M.Sc. in Astronomy/Applied Mathematics or B.E/M.E/B.Tech. in Electronics also qualify.
For Chemical and Biophysical Sciences-M.Sc. in Chemistry/Physics/ Biosciences.
For Technology and Computer Science- B.E./B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech. in Computer Science. Exceptional candidates with M.Sc. degree in Mathematics/Physics with good background in Computers / Technology may also be considered.
