BHABHA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE (Department of Atomic Energy)

Orientation course

Field of Study: Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine

Subject Areas: Nuclear Science in Research in frontier areas of nuclear physics condensed matter physics, neutron and reactoil physics, radiochemistry, chemical and analytical sciences and biology radiobiology. Research and development in frontier technologies related to metallurgical and materials science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, chemical engineering, accelerators, plasma and laser sciences, computer science and engineering, robotics, instrumentation and control engineering etc.: Design, development and engineering of research reactors and power reactors, heavy water plants; nuclear fuel cycle facilities for fuel. Research and development in all areas related to fast breeder readers and Application of nuclear radiation and isotopes in agriculture, food and life sciences, medicine and industry.

Duration: One-year

General Information: After successful completion of orientation course, the candidates will be appointed as Scientific Officers. After appointment in-service higher studies are available.

Value: Monthly stipend and one time book allowance. The course is residential.

Eligibility:

(1) Physics Candidates should have M.Sc. degree in Physics/ Applied Physics with average aggregate marks not less than 60% and also should have passed B.Sc. degree in first class with Physics as a subject. Mathematics up to XII and mathematics with Physics up to B.Sc. are essential.
(2) Chemistry candidates should have M.Sc. degree in chemistry with average aggregate marks, in postgraduate course not less than 60% and also should have passed B.Sc. degree in first class with Chemistry
(3) Biology-Radiobiology candidates should have M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry/Biosciences (Botany, Zoology), Life Sciences/Biotechnology/ Microbiology with average aggregate marks, in post graduate course, not less than 60% and also should have passed B.Sc, in first class, Physics or Chemistry as subsidiary subject in B.Sc. in desirable.
(4) Engineering candidates should have B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc.(Engg.) degree from faculty of Engineering/Technology with average aggregate marks in all years/semesters not less than 60% in any of the Branches Viz. Mechanical/Electrical/ Electronics/Computer/instrumentation/Chemical/Civil and Metallurgy.

Age: Less than 26 years as on September.
