IES ESE Exam- Solved Question Papers and Study Materials

UPSC Conducts the IES Examination for recruiting Engineers to the posts in Railway, Defense, Central Engineering Service, Telecommunication service, Supply service etc. The Indian Engineering Service examination is conducted in 4 disciplines viz:

IBPS PO Preliminary Exam 2018 – Preparation Guide


The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) invited applications for the next CWE PO/MT (VIII)- Online Common Recruitment examination 2018 for the recruitment of Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee posts in various participating banks. The examination is tentatively scheduled in October 2018. 

The examination will be two tier i.e. the online examination will be held in two phases, Preliminary and Main. Candidates who will qualify in Preliminary examination and shortlisted will have to appear for Main examination and shortlisted candidates in the Main examination will subsequently be called for a Common Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organizations and co-ordinated by the Nodal Bank. Depending on the final vacancies to be filled in during the financial year 2018-19 based on the business needs of the Participating Organisations and as reported to IBPS, candidates shortlisted will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organizations keeping in view the spirit of Govt. Guidelines on reservation policy, administrative convenience, etc. The validity for CWE PO/MT VII will automatically expire at the close of business on 31.03.2019 with or without giving any notice. Reasoning Syllabus:

60 Questions 60 Marks: The higher level reasoning questions are expected in this section. Questions are expected to be confusing and consuming more time. Expected sections are Analytical Reasoning, Syllogism, Seating Arrangements, Blood Relations, Statements and assumptions, Decoding the codes, Symbol encodings and patterns, Non verbal Reasoning

Quantitative Aptitude Syllabus:

30 Questions 30 marks: As in the other sections, the syllabus for QA is identical to bank PO exams, but in addition to that questions from Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra and Mensuration are also asked in grade B examination. Other important topics are Time and Distance, Time and work, Interest calculation (both simple and compound) Averages. The difficulty level is expected to be moderate.

General Awareness:

80 Questions 80 Marks: Most of the questions will be related to the happenings in the Indian economy, especially current affairs in economical matters. About 70% of questions are expected from this area and the rest from GK and other current affairs. Have an eye on current budget, RBI policies, economic survey, banking laws and amendments. Indian banking system, security and currency market and the like.

English Language:

30 questions 30 marks: Probably the easiest of the 4 sections, questions are asked from voabulary, antonyms and synonyms, sentence re arrangement, fill in the blanks, correction of sentences and the like.

SBI PO Mains Syllabus

English Language: A total of 35 questions are expected, Important areas are Reading comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar Corrections, Identification of Errors in sentence constructions, Jumbled sentences etc. Expect High standard questions in Comprehension, rest of the questions will be in moderate difficulty.

Reasoning and Computer Awareness : 45 questions will be there in this section also. Expect the difficulty level to be on the higher side for this section. The important areas are Logical Reasoning, Arithmetical reasoning, Analytical reasoning, Series completion, finding missing figures, Completing number and alphabetical series, Analogies / decision making, Puzzle / Seating Arrangement

Data Analysis and Interpretation : 35 questions in this section will be in easy to moderate difficulty level. The following sections are considered important: Data Interpretation and manipulation questions from Charts, Graphs and Diagrams including Line charts, pie charts, bar charts and tabular data. Application level questions from probability and statistics, The data manipulation of these questions will contain of time and distance calculations, BODMAS rule, Calculation of speed and distance, calculation of area, volume, perimeter and application of formulas in algebra, geometry, functions etc.

General Awareness, Economy and Banking Awareness: In this section 20 questions each are expected from General Awareness and10 questions each are expected from Economy and Banking Awareness

Each paper (Paper 1 and Paper 2) will be having 90 minutes duration and will contain 120 objective type MCQ questions. Each correct answer will get 4 marks, thereby the total marks will be 480. For each incorrect answer ONE mark will be deducted from the total score.

Selection process of SBI Clerk 2018

The selection process will consist of on-line test (preliminary & main examination) and test of specified opted local language. Only candidates who cleared Preliminary examination will be shortlisted for SBI Clerk Mains 2018. Approximately 20 times the numbers of vacancies subject to availability) will be short listed for the Main Examination.

Phase-I : Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test would be of 1 hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows:

The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be bilingual i.e., English &Hindi. The candidates are required to qualify in each of the Tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Candidates are also required to score a minimum percentage marks on aggregate of all three subjects.

There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Type of Questions

GATE 2018 Exam will have two types of questions

  1. Multiple Choice Questions: MCQ’s carrying 1 or 2 marks, candidates need to mark the correct answer from the given 4 choices.

  2. Numerical Answer Questions: the answer is a real number, to be entered by the candidate using the virtual keypad. No choices will be shown, questions will carry 1 or 2 marks.

Negative Marking scheme

For 1-mark multiple choice questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-mark multiple choice questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. However, there is no negative marking for a wrong answer in numerical answer type questions.

Major Changes in IBPS Clerk Exam 2017

  1. No More Interviews for IBPS Clerk… The interview stage has been withdrawn by IBPS from the clerical grade selection process. So candidates need to clear only the Preliminary and Main examinations with the required percentage to get their dream job.
  2. Changes in the clerk main exam pattern
    1. Specific time limit introduced to attempt each of the sections of the question paper.  To know respective time limit for each  section please refer the IBPS Clerk Main Exam pattern table below.
    2. Change in duration of IBPS Clerk Mains exam– Examination time extended to 160 minutes instead of 135 minutes in CWE VI
    3. Combining sections of IBPS Clerk Mains– From 2017, the Reasoning and Computer knowledge are combined into a single section. So the total number of sections is reduced to 4 instead of 5 in CWE VI. Refer table below to know more..

Eligibility to apply for the exam

Indian Citizens in the age group of 20-28 (As on 01.09.2017) should possess Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government, can apply for the examination.

Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS),Rashtrapati Niwas, Shimla, invites applications for award of fellowships for research in the following areas:

The term of Fellowship for independent and retired scholars would initially be for a period of one year, allowing continuation for another year after evaluation of the work done during the first year. In no case will this continue beyond two years. However, for in-service scholars who want to come for two years, the Fellowship would be awarded for a period of two years subject to the condition that continuation of the Fellowship for the second year would only be granted if the external Evaluation Report of the work done by the Fellow during the first year is positive.

Educational Qualification and Experience for Officer Scale I, II and III

The basic qualification is graduation, and for Specialist level officers and Asst. Managers a degree is required in the respective subject. Preference will be given to graduations in specific subjects. As far as experience is considered Officer Scale II General Banking Officer requires an experience of Two years as an officer in a Bank or Financial Institution. Specialist officers require One year experience in respective field. Officer Scale III requires Minimum 5 years experience as an Officer in a Bank or Financial Institutions

RRB Officer Scale I recruitment involves a two tier exam structure, Candidates need to attend a preliminary examination, those who get the required cut-off marks in the prelims are selected for the Main examination. CTET Previous year solved question papers

As per the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) notification, one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher is that he/she should pass the CTET- Central Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by CBSE / Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government . CTET is first conducted in the year 2011.

CTET Exam structure

All questions in CTET test will be Objective type (MCQs), each questions carrying one mark, There will be no negative marking.

There will be two papers of CTET.
(i) Paper I for teachers for classes I to V.
(ii) Paper II for teachers for classes VI to VIII.

Note: A person who intends to be a teacher for both levels will have to appear in both the papers (Paper I and Paper II).
Exam pattern of the question paper for CTET Paper 1 is as follows.
  • Child Development and Pedagogy – 30 questions, total 30 marks.
  • Language I – 30 questions, total 30 marks.
  • Language II – 30 questions, total 30 marks.
  • Mathematics – 30 questions, total 30 marks.
  • Environmental Studies – 30 questions, total 30 marks.

IBPS Clerk exam- Complete previous year question papers

IBPS invited applications for latest IBPS Clerk CWE VI- Common Written Examination 2016 to recruit candidates to the clerical grade posts in the participating Public Sector banks and financial Institutions. The IBPS clerk examination will be a two tier online examination and will be held in two phases, preliminary and main. Candidates who will qualify in preliminary examination and shortlisted will have to appear for Main examination. Indian Citizens born not earlier than 02.08.1988 and not later than 01.08.1996 holding a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government are eligible to apply for IBPS Clerk CWE VI.

Pattern of IBPS Clerk CWE- Preliminary exam

IBPS Clerk Preliminary examination is an online examination contains 100 multiple choice questions from topics

  • English Language (30 Questions)
  • Numerical Ability (35 Questions)
  • Reasoning Ability (35 Questions)

Each question carries one marks and the duration of the examination will be one hour. Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for online main examination.

Serving in Indian Defense Services is not just a profession, but  the representation of one’s bravery and patriotism. Combined Defense  Services examination is the main entry point to the Indian Army, Navy and Airforce officer positions. UPSC conducts the examination twice in an year. Minimum entry requirement is Bachelors Degree in concerned subjects. SSB will conduct the interview for the shortlisted candidates of CDS examination.

Scheme and pattern of CDS Examination

The Priliminary stage contains written examination with three papers in  English, GK and Elementary Mathematics. Each paper will be having 2 hours of time and 100 marks. There will be no Maths paper for those who are applying for Officers Training Academy. Questions will be in Objective mode. The Mathematics paper will be in the standard of SSLC/ 10th. Bachelors degree standard is expected for the other papers. Negative marking is applicable for wrong answers, 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Syllabus of CDS Exam

Syllabus for CDS examination is very vast and you need to start preparing at the earliest. Particular attention should be given to increase the General Knowledge and especially the current affairs section. GK questions are expected from Basic Science, Environment, Indian History, Geography, Politics, Economics, and Current affairs. Reading minimum 3 newspapers (including The Hindu), watching the daily TV news checking the current affairs sections of preparation sites will be beneficial to the candidates for answering the GK and English language section of the paper

State Bank of India invited applications from eligible candidates for appointment as Probationary Officers (POs) in Associate Banks of State Bank of India. A total of 2986 vacancies are available in a pan India basis. Any graduate not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.09.2014 can apply for this post. Pay Scale of SBI Associate Bank PO Post:

Selected candidates will be posted in a scale of 14500-600/7-18700-700/ 2-20100-800/7-25700 with a starting basic pay of 14500 Rs. Total compensation varies depending upon the place of posting and the perquisites offered by individual Banks and on an average is about Rs.65,000/- per month at Mumbai.

 Selection and Shortlisting

The selection process of SBI Associate Bank PO exam consists 2 phases. Phase I will consist of an online objective test carrying 200 marks and an offline descriptive test for 50 marks. The Phase I qualified candidates will be called for Phase II. It consists of a group discussion of (20 marks) and an interview of (30 marks).

 Examination Pattern:

 Objective Test: 4 sections are there in this online examination

  • Test of English Language
  • Test of General Awareness, Marketing & Computers
  • Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation
  • Test of Reasoning (High Level)

Each section will have 50 questions carrying 1 marks each. Duration of the test will be 2 hours.

Descriptive Test: This test will follow the objective examination. It is an offline examination where the candidates have to answer in paper/pen mode. The duration will be 1 hour and it will carry 50 marks in total.

Reserve Bank of India Services Board announced for the recruitment examination to select Grade B officers in the Reserve Bank of India. The recruitment examination of RBI Grade B Officers are conducted in three stages

Phase One Examination: Online examination in MCQ mode

Phase Two Examination: Offline Descriptive exam, conducted only for candidates shortlisted after Phase I examination

Personal Interview: Conducted for candidates who clear Phase II part of RBI Grade B examination.

 Syllabus and Pattern of RBI Grade B Officer recruitment examination.

The Phase I examination is having the following sections

1. General Awareness: 80 Questions

2. English Language: 30 Questions

3. Quantitative Aptitude: 30 Questions

4. Verbal Reasoning : 60 Questions.

In total 200 questions and each question carries 1 mark. 2 hours and 10 minutes are available to complete the examination.

 Negative Marking

For every wrong answer 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.

 The Phase II descriptive examination having the following papers

Paper I – English (Essay, [Precis writing, Comprehension [Business / Office Correspondence]

Paper II – Economic and Social Issues

Paper III – Finance & Management

Each paper is a 3 hour examination consists descriptive questions and carries 100 marks.

Probationary officer  recruitment in SBI-
A preparation Guide

State Bank of India announced the notification for the recruitment of Probationary Officers for the year 2014. This time SBI is recruiting probationary officers for 1837 posts. The last date of application is 28th April, and the examination will be held in the month of June 2014.

Syllabus and Question Pattern of SBI PO exam 2014

There are 2 papers  in SBI PO examination The first one is Objective paper and the second one is Descriptive.

SBI PO Objective paper (Paper I) syllabus and pattern:
Total marks: 200
Time allotted: 2 hours

Syllabus of Objective Paper (Paper I of SBI PO exam):

The 200 questions are asked from the following areas:

1. English Language
2. Data Interpretation
3. Reasoning
4. The rest of the questions will be from General Awareness, Computer Awareness and Marketing awareness

English Language syllabus: A total of 50 questions are expected, Important areas are Reading comprehension,  Vocabulary, Grammar Corrections, Identification of Errors in sentence constructions, Jumbled sentences etc. Expect High standard questions in Comprehension, rest of the questions will be in moderate difficulty.

Reasoning syllabus: 50 questions will be there in this section also. Expect the difficulty level to be on the higher side for this section. The important areas are Logical Reasoning, Arithmetical reasoning, Analytical reasoning, Series completion, finding missing figures, Completing number and alphabetical series,   Analogies / decision making, Puzzle / Seating Arrangement

Data Analysis and Interpretation syllabus: 50 questions in this section will be in easy to moderate difficulty level. The following sections are considered important: Data Interpretation and manipulation questions from Charts, Graphs and Diagrams including Line charts, pie charts, bar charts and tabular data. Application level questions from probability and statistics, The data manipulation of these questions will contain  of time and distance calculations, BODMAS rule, Calculation of speed and distance, calculation of area, volume, perimeter and application of formulas in algebra, geometry, functions etc.

Syllabus of General Awareness: In this section 10 questions each are expected from Marketing and computer awareness sections and 15 questions each are expected from Banking awareness and current affairs sections.

Negative Marking of SBI PO Paper I
For each incorrect answer a quarter (1/4th ) of marks are reduced

SBI PO Descriptive Paper (Paper II) Syllabus
In this section, expect questions relating to Letter writing (Usually official letters in connection with the normal functioning of a bank branch), Essay and Paragraph writing (Usually related to bank functioning and economy), Precis writing and Reading comprehension.

This paper will have 50 marks and the duration will be 1 hour.
