IISER Pune Phd in Biological Sciences/ Chemical Sciences/ Physical Sciences/ Mathematics admissions 2013
IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Resaerch), Pune invites applications for Phd in the following areas for 2013 session.
Biological Sciences
Eligiblity
60% marks for General/OBC (55% for SC/ST) in M.Sc in any branch of Science –Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Biological Sciences/Ecology & EnvironmentalSciences/Biodiversity or equivalent. B.E/B.Tech/M.Tech or MBBS degree holders may also apply.
Additionally, the candidate MUST have qualified any ONE of the following exams:
National Eligibility Test (NET) with VALID CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF or DBT-JRF-A or ICMR-JRF or ICAR-JRF or BINC. Candidates eligible for INSPIRE-PhD fellowship may also apply.
OR
Must have passed CSIR-LS or DAE-JEST or NBHM or GATE or GPAT in last two years.
o For CSIR-LS rank-holders up to rank 200 are eligible.
o For DAE-JEST/GATE/GPAT rank-holders up to rank 500 are eligible.
OR
IISER BS-MS Dual degree students are exempted from the above requirement provided they have a CGPA which is greater than or equal to 7.0.
Date of entrance test and interviews: 30 May 2013 to 1 June 2013.

Chemical Sciences
Eligibility
60% marks for General/OBC (55% for SC/ST) in M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics/Biochemistry/Material Science/Bioinformatics/Pharmacy.
Additionally, the candidate MUST have qualified any ONE of the following exams:
National Eligibility Test (NET) with VALID CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF or DBT-JRF-A or ICMR-JRF or ICAR-JRF or BINC. Candidates eligible for INSPIRE-PhD fellowship may also apply.

Mathematics
There is no IISER admission test for admission to PhD program in Mathematics. Candidates will be selected from the results of NBHM examination. Candidates with BE/ BTech or ME/ MTech or Master’s degree at the time of admission with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) and having appeared for the NBHM examination conducted in January 2013 will be invited to attend the interview at IISER Pune.
