Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Summer Training Program 2018 by AcSIR

Summer Training Program at AcSIR provides an opportunity to spend one of your summers working at premier research Laboratories of CSIR with some of the leading scientists in India, in an environment which promotes trans-disciplinary research.

The program is supported/ funded by AcSIR through its AcSIR-Kalam Fellowship.

Fellowship Details

Total number of Fellowships: 20 (With Scholarship)
Duration: Two months; Between the months of May and August
Amount of Fellowship: Rs. 25,000 per student for the duration of the program (payable after successful completion of the training program and submission of project report to the Laboratory Coordinator)
Travel allowance to the selected student: Reimbursable to a maximum of Rs. 5,000 per selected student
This is a compulsorily Residential Program where the selected students would be required to stay on campus of the respective CSIR Labs on charge basis.

Eligibility

Candidate should poses any of the following qualification:
-    First year of M.Sc program or equivalent: minimum first-class at pre-M.Sc degree level
-    Third to pre-final year of Integrated M.Sc program or equivalent: GPA 6.0 on a scale of 10 (upto IV Sem)
-    First year of M.E/M.Tech program or equivalent: GPA 8.0 on a scale of 10 OR GPA 7.0 on a scale of 10 for CFTIs at B.E/B.Tech level or GATE Score ≥600 or NET (Engineering) Rank from 1 to 100
-    Third year of B.E/ B.Tech program or equivalent: GPA 8.0 on a scale of 10 OR GPA 7.0 on a scale of 10 for CFTIs (upto IV Sem)
-    Third to pre-final year of Integrated M.E/M.Tech program or equivalent: GPA 8.0 on a scale of 10 OR GPA 7.0 on a scale of 10 for CFTIs (upto IV Sem) or GATE Score ≥600 or NET (Engineering) Rank from 1 to 100.

Selection Process

-    Screening will be primarily based on a Research Proposal and other screening criteria decided by the Committee.
-     An applicant can give five preferences of CSIR Labs/Institutes.
-     Shortlisted applicants will be intimated electronically
-    Selection Interview will be held at a central location. Appearance at the interview is mandatory for consideration.
-     Applicant may be allowed to participate through electronic media for interview (Skype etc.) under specific request.
-    Selection is purely based on merit/ performance at the selection interview.
-    Food and lodging arrangements shall be made for applicants called for interview only.

NBHM Scholarship 2018 for doing Phd/ Integrated Phd in Maths

NBHM Scholarship to do Phd/ Integrated Phd in Mathematics 2018 notification

The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) invites applications to appear for the joint screening test for (i) the grant of NBHM scholarships to students for pursuing research for a Ph.D. degree in mathematics and (ii) admissions to the Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. programmes of certain institutions in India which include the Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI),Allahabad, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) , Pune, and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc) , Chennai.

Eligibility to receive the NBHM Ph.D. scholarship is restricted to students who have completed their B.S./M.A./M.Sc.  (or equivalent) degree and have secured admission to a recognized Ph.D. programme.

Selection Procedure

Candidates must appear for a written test which will feature questions based on  topics  normally  covered  in  masters  degree  programmes  in  mathematics.  The test will be of 150 minutes’ duration and will involve questions with short answers. Based  on  the  performance  in  the written test, candidates will be short-listed for interview before final selection.

Phd Fellowship 2018 at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Phd Fellowship 2018

Applications are invited for Hong Kong PhD fellowship by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The selected students will be awarded a stipend of HK$240,000 per year for four years, conference travel allowance of HK$10,000 for four years, an ‘excellent research award’ worth HK$40,000 in the first year of study and accommodation in the first two years.

Eligibility:

The applicants should have obtained a Bachelors degree with a proven record of outstanding performance from a recognised institution; or presented evidence of satisfactory work at the postgraduate level on a full-time basis for at least one year, or on a part-time basis for at least two years. Candidate should also have 6 bands in IELTS or 80 marks in TOFEL. However, minimum English proficiency is not required if the medium of instruction was English in Bachelors degree.

NTSE 2018 notification

National Talent Search Examination 2018 notification

National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is an exam under NTS scheme to award scholarship to students studying at the Class X level. Scholarships are awarded up to PhD in Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages, Commerce, Vocational Studies and Fine arts,and up to second degree level for professional courses in medicines, engineering, technology, management and law. NTSE is a two-tier examination conducted in two stages. NTS stage-I is conducted by States and Union Territories whereas NCERT conducts stage-II examination.

NTSE consists of Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) having multiple choice questions. Every year about 1000 scholarships are awarded.

Eligibility

All students studying in Class X in any recognized school is eligible to appear in Stage-I NTS exam. Additionally, State/UT can impose any eligibility criteria to appear in Stage-I. For stage-II, there is a quota for each State and Union Territory computed based on Student enrollment at secondary level. Students with Indian Nationality studying abroad need to secure 60% marks in previous examination to apply for NTS exam. Such students, if selected, need to appear for Stage-II NTSE directly.

Application Procedure

1. Candidates need to apply for NTSE Stage-I as per the advertisement or circular issued by the respective State/UT Government.

2. NCERT will send the examination details and roll numbers directly to the selected candidates through speed post. No separate application or fee is required NTSE Stage-II.

3. Students with Indian Nationality studying abroad need to apply through the Head of the Institution where they are presently studying. These applications need to be sent to Head Educational Survey Division, NCERT, Delhi – 16 with the attested copy of Class IX.

Pre Metric/Post Metric Scholarship by India Government 2017 notification

Indian Government Pre Metric/Post Metric/ Merit cum Means based Scholarship 2017 for minorities

Applications are invited from the students belonging to six minority communities notified by the Government of India for availing Scholarships under three scholarship schemes viz. Pre-Matric Post-Matric and Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Schemes for the year 2017-18.

Eligibility

- The applicant should belong to any one from the notified minority communities viz. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastnans (Persia) and Jains.

- Pursuing studies in India in Government or Private Universities/lnstituteslcollegeslschools.

- The course being pursued is ol one or more years.

- The applicant should have secured 50% marks in the last annual Board/Class examination.

DBT-Research Associateship 2018 notification

DBT-Research Associateship 2018 for Biotechnology/ Biology

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the award of “DBT-Research Associatcship” for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and applied biology. The Associateship is tenable in Research Institution/ Universities including non-profit R&D Institutions within India. The Associateships are awarded under a program sponsered by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Eligibility

The applicants should hold a Ph.D degree in Science, Engineering or M.D or M.S. (Medicine) degree in any area of medicine with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences and a good academic record. The Associatcship can be availed within 2 years of the award of Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) degree; however, may be relaxable (by 2 years) in case of in-service candidates. Those who have already submitted the Ph.DJM.DJM.S. (Medicine) thesis are also eligible to apply (attach proof of submission from the Registrar / Controller of examinations). The applicants should be below the age of 40 years and 45 years in case of women and in-service candidates. Persons already employed arc also eligible to apply. However, their applications should be routed through their employers.

Award details

The Research Associateship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years. In exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the Associateship may be extended upto 5 years. In both cases, renewal is subject to satisfactory annual academic progress. Each fellow would be entitled to a stipend in the range of Rs.36,000-40,000/- per month and a research contin ency grant of Rs.50,000 per year, payable to the host Institution. Candidates who are yet to be awarded the Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) dcgrcc, if selected will be paid Rs.28,000/- per month till award of the degree. The associate would also be entitled to HRA and other benefits as per the DST guidelines applicable to Research Associatcship. The Associateships normally are not availed at the same Institution where candidates have earned their Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) degree or with the doctoral thesis supervisor or continue on doctoral thesis work.

Selection procedure

The candidates will be selected based on their C.V. and performance in the interview. The interview will be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in November 2017.

The applicant is advised to propose his/her place of work, name of the supervisor, enclose one page synopsis of proposed research which must be compatible with the on-going research of the proposed supervisor, and his/her consent for availing the Associateship. They should also enclose a declaration stating that if selected for the Associateship, he/she will complete the tenure of the Associateship.

KVPY Fellowship 2017 for Pursuing Basic Science Courses And Career In Research 

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellows hips (Rs.5.000/- Rs.7,000/- p.m.) and contingency grants (equivalent to four months fellowship per annum) to students studying in 1st year program in Basic Science Course such as B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat/B.Math./Int M.Sc./Int MS. Selection to the program takes into account the academic excellence and skills to take up research career in Basic Sciences.
Eligibility for Stream SA: Students enrolled in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2017-18 and have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST &PWD)marks in aggregate it MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat/B.Math./Int M.Sc./Int MS) in the academic year 2019-20 and having seared a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST PWD)marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in the XII Standard (4+2) Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be Invited for National Science (Vijyoshi)Camp and thee travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.
Eligibility for Stream SX: Students enrolled in XII Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2017-18 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat/B.Math./Int M.Sc./Int MS) for the session 2018-19 during the academic year having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST 8 PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream*, be activated only if they join for an undergraduate mane in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Eligibility for Stream SB: Students enrolled in the 1st year of (B.Sc./B.S./B. Sikh Human Development Foundation Scholarship 2017 notification

SHDF Scholarship 2017 of  Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council

Applications are invited for the Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council, SHDF Scholarship. Recipients will be given up to Rs 30,000 per year.

Eligibility:

The applicant must be pursuing a professional diploma, degree or postgraduate course at a recognised institution or university in India, and he or she must have earned at least 60% marks in the most recent academic term.Further, the candidate’s family should not earn more than Rs 12,500 per month or Rs 1,50,000 per year, and the candidate must have access to a phone and email in order to communicate with Nishkam.
