Applications are invited for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship (NET) December, 2013 in (i) Chemical Sciences (ii) Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences (iii) Life Sciences (iv) Mathematical Sciences (v) Physical Sciences (vi) Engineering Sciences on Sunday the 22nd December, 2013.

Eligibility

BS – 4 years program/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS/Integrated BS – MS/MSc or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks for general and OBC ( 50% for SC/ST candidates, physically and Visually Handicapped candidates).

Candidates enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship from the effective date of award.

BSc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS- PhD program with at least 55% marks for general and OBC candidates; 50% marks for SC/ST candidates, physically and visuall y handicapped candidates are also eligible to apply. Candidates with bachelor’s degree, whether Science, engineering or any other discipline, will be eligible for fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for PhD/Integrated PhD program within the va lidity period of two years.

PhD degree holders who have passed Master’s degree prior to 19 th September 1991, with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship only.

Age Limit

For JRF (NET) :M aximum 28 years as on 01-07-2013(upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and female applicants).

For LS (NET : No upper age limit.

Bioinformatics Industrial Training Programme (BIITP) 2013 notification

Department Of Biotechnology Bioinformatics Industrial Training Programme (BIITP) 2013

Department Of Biotechnology invites online applications for Bioinformatics Industrial Training Programme (BIITP) 2013-14 from students of bioinformatics for practical industrial training in bioinformatics and biotechnology companies for a period of six months. Stipend of Rs.8000/- per month will be paid to candidates placed for training. The objective of BIITP is to provide industrial exposure to bioinformatics students to improve their job prospects.

Eligibility

B.Tech. / B.E. / M.Sc. / M.Tech. / Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics (minimum 1 year) and BINC qualified candidates, completed in the year 2012 or 2013 with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.

BINC 2012

Bioinformatics National Certification Examination 2012

Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, through Jawaharlal Nehru University, invites applications for Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC) Examination 2012 which helps for recruitment of candidates having exceptionally good Bioinformatics skills.

Eligibility :

Graduates in any science, agriculture, veterinary, medicine, pharmacy, engineering and technology

Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC) Examination 2012 will be conducted on 25-02-2012 and 26-02-2012.

Exam fee is Rs. 600/- for candidates from Open category and Rs. 450/- for Reserved category candidates should be drawn in favour of Finance Officer, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Payable at New Delhi.

 Syllabus is Bioinformatics, Biology, Physical & Chemical Sciences, Mathematics & Statistics and IT.

VGST SPiCE (Science Projects in College Education) 2012

VGST Science Projects in College Education (SPiCE) 2012 for UG/ PG students

Department of Information Technology Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), Government of Karnataka, invites for Science Projects in College Education (SPiCE) for providing financial support to both Under Graduate and Post-Graduate science students to practically work on innovative scientific ideas to achieve scientific and technological needs. Research based scientific innovative projects under the SPiCE initiative helps to bridge the gap between Science and Technology. VGST believes that, in the long run the SPiCE programme will attract and encourage students to continue study and research in basic sciences.

INVITATION FOR PROPOSALS

Innovative project proposals focusing the above mentioned science subject areas are invited from students studying in Under Graduate and Post-Graduate science colleges in the prescribed PROJECT PROPOSAL FORMAT along with Proforma-A, Proforma-B as perthe calendar of events (available at the VGST website: www.vgst.in ).

ELIGIBILITY

This programme is primarily planned for Under Graduate and Post-Graduate science students. However, project proposals under other allied science subjects will also be considered for financial support. Under Graduate students studying in I, II, III, IV and V semesters and Post-Graduate students studying in I, II & III semesters during the current academic year 2011-12 in colleges of Karnataka are eligible to take-up the project work. A team of two students should work for the project under the guidance of a faculty member of their institution.

CONDITION OF SUPPORT

Student applicants are expected to work out the logistics of the project and are required to

submit the “ACTION PLAN (Proforma-A)’ and ‘BUDGET ESTIMATE (Proforma-B)1. It is mandatory to complete the SPiCE programme within the allocated financial support of Rs.30,000/- in the specified period of FIVE months by adhering to the calendar of events. Further, Project Completion Report, Audited Utilization Certificate and Expenditure Statement are to be furnished by 28/02/2012.

SELECTION OF PROPOSALS

Support grant of Rs.30,000/- will be provided based on the scope, merit and social relevance of the project proposal. Up to 50 project proposals will be considered for support during the current year 2011 -12. The list of selected proposals will be announced by 15/09/2011 in the VGST website: www.vgst.in

IGNOU/ UNESCO Science Olympiad 2011 for Science Students

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi and the Cluster Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), New Delhi are co-sponsoring a Science Olympiad for Science Students currently enrolled in India’s 11th standard/class or Equivalent in South Asian countries- India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka.

All students who have scored a minimum of 60% average in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the terminal examination of the 10th Standard/Class or equivalent grade are eligible to participate.

They should register for participation in this Olympiad along with a recent photograph on their application form, a certification for having obtained a minimum of 60% average in the science subjects of their 10th standard/class examination grade and a token fee of Indian Rs. 100 (One hundred only). This registration fee is only for Indian students.

Online registration can be done in a proforma found in the website of IGNOU and UNESCO. School principals/authorities are requested to promote the participation of all bright students and forward the registration from their respective schools along with a demand draft in favour of IGNOU, New Delhi/credit card authorization. Successful participants will receive certificates of merit, medals, cash prizes and awards. Top 1000 participants will be given IGNOU-UNESCO accredited merit certificates. About 40 meritorious participants from all SAARC countries will be invited to IGNOU, New Delhi to take the second test and receive the awards in person in a special award ceremony.

AIEEE 2011 Rescheduled to 11th May 2011 CBSE Notification

AIEEE 2011 Rescheduled to 11th May 2011

In continuation to the press release regarding the rescheduling of AIEEE 2011 examination, the following arrangements have been made by the CBSE;

1. The re-scheduled exam will now be conducted on 11 th May 2011 instead of 8th May 2011 due to other professional examinations on the same date. The exam will be held from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM at 39 cities given below.

2. The exam will be conducted for those candidates only who could not appear on 1st May 2011. The candidature of all such candidates who appeared on 1st May 2011 and register for rescheduled examination will be summarily cancelled.

3. The following candidates only shall be permitted to appear;

(a) Who could not appear in the AIEEE exam because the exam centre where they were to appear was an AFMC exam centre also and centre could not conduct AIEEE exam City, Centres and Roll nos of such candidates will remain the same
(b) Who could not appear in the AIEEE exam because they were to appear for AFMC exam at a different centre. Such candidates should register online on CBSE website for appearing in re-scheduled AIEEE exam. Roll nos of such candidates will remain the same
(c) Who could not appear in the AIEEE exam because of some administrative reasons. Such candidates should register online on CBSE website for appearing in re-scheduled AIEEE exam. Rollnosof such candidates will remain the same
(d) Who had applied for Online Mode of Exam but could not appear because of AFMC Exam at different Centres. Such candidates should register online on CBSE website for appearing in re-scheduled AIEEE exam. Roll nos of such candidates will remain the same. These candidates will have to appear for Paper/Pen Test only.

ICMR in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh invites for National Level Examination for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF), for Indian national candidates at Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata  Mumbai, Guwahati, Hyderabad  and Varanasi on Sunday, July 17th, 2011.

Eligibility:

Educational: M.Sc/M.A or equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks for General/OBC Candidates and 50% for the SC/ST & Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates in the subjects mentioned above.  Candidates appearing in the final year examination (2010-2011) can also apply.

Age Limit: The upper age limit for admission to the eligibility test is 28 years as on 30-09-2011 (relaxable up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH/ female candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC.
