University of Northampton invites applications for MA Education programme
#1
University of Northampton (UK) is inviting applications for its Indian chapter of MA Education course from teachers and professional colleagues in India who have difficulties committing themselves to attend the course at the University campus in England. The two year part-time study will have a Bangalore based cohort and will provide participants with opportunities to enhance their practice by reflecting on their own personal and professional experiences.

The course is suitable for teachers working in an Indian context who wish to further their understanding and skills in relation to teaching and supporting children with special educational needs and learning difficulties. It will be taught by Professor Richard Rose and Professor John Visser from the University, who have an experience of working in an Indian environment, alongside local Indian tutors who are experienced in addressing a range of special educational needs.

According to Prof. Rose, “The course will be taught through intensive six day blocks of time followed by one day support sessions in Bangalore and will also receive online support direct from The University of Northampton. All students will have full library access and support throughout their studies. The modules are assessed through a series of procedures designed to enhance participants’ academic interpretation of key issues whilst also applying innovation and practical solutions to commonly confronted classroom issues.”
The course comprises a series of inter-related modules that draw upon international research and practice in respect of the education of children and young people with special educational needs. The modules are assessed through a series of procedures designed to enhance participants’ academic interpretation of key issues whilst also applying innovation and practical solutions to commonly confronted classroom issues.

Graduates in Education (B.Ed), Psychology, Child/Human Development, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Physio-Therapy from any recognized University or higher education establishments are eligible to apply. Teachers working in regular and/ or special schools and professionals working in schools, hospitals, clinics and rehabilitation centres will also be considered for the programme.

The MA will be taught in Bangalore at the Brindavan Trust buildings in Jayanagar. The course commences from April 2012 and the fees for the session is £2354 (Rs. 1,69,486).
