PhD in Management

I have done MA and MPhil in economics with 53% and 56% respectively.I have also done MBA with a first class.I'd like to do PhD in Management through a distance mode.Which university is better?I 'm working in a management college for the past 5 years.Can I pursue with independent research programme or should I go in for some guide?
