NPTEL virtual classes for Engineering students

I am a 1st yr engineering student. Came to hear about a NPTEL website offering classes on various topics related to different branches of Engineering. Is it virtual learning? How is it beneficial for engineering students? From where can I get the details of NPTEL website?

NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) is offering classes on virtual learning for engineering students as it contains information on about 1273 topics of various branches in engineering. It contains information about Maths (77 subjects), physics (76 subjects), chemistry (58 subjects) and humanities (77 subjects).it is freely offered and can be seen even in smartphones.
