Both MBA and PGDM are considered as equivalent, the value of them depends only on the university. If you are getting admission in the top college for PGDM then it is better than MBA.

Hi,

People often end up getting confused between MBA & PGDM is run by autonomous body. While taking up PDGM, the advantage you get is that it being an autonomous body, they regularly update their syllabus so one can say as comapred to MBA courses. Whereas an MBA, this change happens every 3-5 years. But PGDM wont be necessarily equivalent to MBA. Because for PGDM to euivalent to MBA it needs to have accreditation from AIU.While selecting a college you should consider parameters like Infrastructure,Courses offered and so on. Mumbai has very good institutes for both. So do consider Mumbai as one of the top option on your list of cities for education.

If you are thinking of doing any of these course full time then both courses span across two years. If you want to enter the corporate world and looking for umpteen opportunities then doing MBA is a wise choice else you can go for PGDM. PGDM is introduced by those MBA colleges which is not affiliated by any university. Universities have to take approval from AIU to make it equivalent to MBA. Good luck

MBA is anytime better option to go ahead with in-comparison to PGDM courses. The major plus point of having an MBA is that you get a degree and it will of use if you wish to pursue further education like Phd, etc.Whereas PGDM courses are basically diploma ones and there are times when such courses do not hold proper AIU (Association of Indian Universities) accreditation. To start with, try researching on some of the highly recognized MBA institutions like Glocal University, SRCC and many more.
