Arts University Bournemouth’s “Who are you? – In a gender defined world” Competition also gives 11th & 12th class students the opportunity to see their work ‘supersized’ on huge hoardings all over the UK.

We all know who we are and can go on describing ourselves in endless words. But ever thought of expressing yourself through a piece of art? Art in any type is a form of creative expression, and we are born into a world that has the freedom and mode to be able to express ourselves in so many ways. There can be nothing better than making creativity the key for helping yourself grow and learn.

About The Competition: One of the UK’s top creative universities, the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) has come up with a breakthrough opportunity for all the 11th and 12th standard students from India in the form of an art competition, ‘Who Are You? – In a gender defined world’
(WAY). The winner will be accredited with a massive scholarship. All one needs to do is produce a piece of art that expresses them within the gender defined world they live in.
Every mind has an individual outlook on life, based on their experiences, beliefs and environments. The debate surrounding gender attitudes in society has never been more important. This competition is asking young artists the questions: Who are you and how do you define yourself in the context of gender attitudes in society? The art competition requires the answer to this question to be transferred onto an artwork that could be in the form of a painting, a piece of design, a photograph, film or animation. One simply needs to let the imagination run wild and creatively illustrate how much of that individual’s identity has been influenced by gender attitudes in the society. It can either be expressed with an artistic political statement or through something abstract that leaves more to the imagination.

Prizes: This competition gives the next generation of painters, film makers, actors, illustrators, animators, photographers and designers the platform that they need to succeed in their dream careers. The winner of ‘Who Are You? – In a gender defined world’ Competition will be entitled to a scholarship equal to the first year fees of any Foundation or Bachelor’s level course at the Arts University Bournemouth, a prize worth over Rs. 12 Lakh! The university will also lay a perfect platform for the top two entries to get noticed by having their work featured in a large scale hoarding advertising campaign in the UK. The entries will be displayed on the international stage in front of tens of thousands of people. Besides, there will be four runners-up to be awarded with a scholarship of £1000 each to study at AUB whereas; twenty best entries will be part of a high profile art exhibition in New Delhi in May 2014.

Selection Process:
To participate in the competition, candidates can send in their entry to wayindia@aub.ac.uk latest by 23rd December 2013.
