The objects of managerial personnel appraisal are as follows:

(i) To locate and identify the individuals who may be promoted from within the organisation.

(ii) To locate the talents and capabilities of executives for their future development.

(iii) To evaluate the utility of the existing development programmes for executives and assess whether there is a need of modification in the programme.

(iv) To evaluate the worth of each executive in the organisation taking into consideration the job requirements.

(v) To have a comparative view of the abilities and capabilities of the executives in the same cadre.
