UK based University of Northampton’s School of The Arts has started inviting applications for its BA (Hons) courses in Fashion, Footwear & Accessories as well as Fashion Marketing. Invitations are also being invited for the School’s MA Design courses in Fashion and Textiles, Footwear, Graphic Communication, Photographic Communication and Product & Spatial Innovation. The University is globally renowned for its courses in fashion and design and they are one of the most sought after programmes among students.

The BA (Hons) Fashion course provides an innovative approach to the creative design process, where students develop their ideas through collaborative live projects and individual exploration. The BA (Hons) Fashion (Footwear and Accessories) programme offers an innovative blend of design, aesthetic and technical appreciation. Students are encouraged to develop knowledge of leather and its design capabilities for fashion footwear and accessories, utilizing specialist computer aided design (CAD) facilities. The Fashion Marketing course helps students develop the skills and understanding needed to forge partnerships between business minded and creative people is an effective way to make fashion businesses viable. All the BA (Hons) programmes are offered as a three year full time study.

The one year full time courses offered in MA Design are interdisciplinary programmes which are intrinsically practice-led and applied in nature. Students are able to elect their pathway title according to their interests and career ambition. The courses promote intellectual investigation largely through practical studies driven by self-selected study projects. They are professionally orientated, creative programmes that aim to develop an understanding of the need in contemporary design for inter/cross-disciplinary problem solving, underpinned by a robust theory-aware ethos.

The students wishing to apply for the BA courses should have successfully completed a Foundation Art and Design course or equivalent qualification. However, applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements but are able to demonstrate an appropriate level of ability will also be considered. For the MA courses, students with a minimum of second class (upper division) honors degree in a relevant design or arts subject are considered.

The fees for the under graduate courses is £9100 and for the post graduate programmes it is £9500. The courses commence in September 2012 and students are recommended to apply at the earliest.
