UPSC IES Exam- Question Pattern, Scheme and Plan of exam

The UPSC IES ESE Engineering Service exam of
Civil Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering,
Electrical Engineering and
Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering

written examination will comprise two sections"
Section I consisting only of objective type of questions and
Section II of conventional papers.
Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines

Section I Objective Papers will contain

• General Ability Test - 2 hrs. 200 Marks
  

Part A : General English
Part B : General Studies

• Relevant Engineering stream MCQ Paper I - 2 hrs. 200 Marks
  
• Relevant Engineering stream MCQ Paper II - 2 hrs. 200 Marks
  

Section II - Conventional Papers

• Relevant Engineering stream Subjective Paper I - 3 hrs- 200 marks
  
• Relevant Engineering stream Subjective Paper II - 3 hrs- 200 marks
