o Nucleosome: DNA wound around histone octamer
o Chromosome Formation: Coiling of nucleosomes
o Chromatids: Two identical parts of a chromosome, joined by a centromere
Human Chromosomes
• Total Number: 46 (23 pairs)
• Types:
o Somatic Chromosomes: 22 pairs, control physical characteristics
o Sex Chromosomes: 1 pair (XX in females, XY in males)
