Is it compulsory to study French in institutions of Canada as a subject?

I am planning to go to Canada for my higher studies. Is French compulsory subject there?

You can study either English as a Second Language (ESL) or French as a Second Language (FSL). International students can study ESL for general, business or specific purposes.
