After the commotion over the updating of the NCERT Textbooks, The Minister for HRD - Dr. Murali manohar Joshi asked the NCERT and UGC to craft the content of the new books in a 'gender friendly face'.

Both NCERT and UGC are expected to take the National Commission for Women's course curriculum as the model for preparation of the same. In the minister's openion the academic communities and Institutes are now overlooking the gender angle.

Mr.Joshi received a copy of a textbook which was meant for the administrative personnel in a function last week, The concerned agencies are engaged in the preparation of Three other publications.

According to the minister schools and other agencies will examine the books for their social and legal aspects of gender equality before the induction of the same.
