UGC RGNFS (Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship) 2011 for SC/ST M.Phil / PhD in Sciences, Engg & Technology, Humanities & Social Science

University Grants Commission, Delhi invites applications for the award of fellowship for the year 2010-2011 undre Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship Scheme (RGNFS) for the benefit of SC/ST candidates for the consideration to select the candidates for award of fellowship belonging to SC/ST category under the scheme. It provides an opportunity for SC/ST students to undertake advanced studies and research (M.Phil / PhD) in Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Humanities & Social Science in Indian Universities and Colleges.

Eligibility for RGNFS

PG in the concerned subject and registered for M.Phil / PhD in recognized university / institute / college.

Tenure of RGNFS :- 2 years.

Emoluments of RGNFS

Fellowship in Science, Humanities & Social Science

JRF / SRF:- 12,000/- p.m. for initial two years and 14,000/- p.m. for remaining tenure.

Fellowship in Engineering & Technology

JRF / SRF:- 14,000/- p.m. for initial two years and 15,000/- p.m. for remaining tenure.

Contingency A

Humanities & Social Science: – 10,000/- p.a. for initial two years and 20,500/- p.a. for remaining tenure.

Contingency B

Sciences, Engineering & Technology: – 12,000/- p.a. for initial two years and 25,000/- p.a. for remaining tenure.

HRA as per University / Institution/ College rules

Departmental Assistance: – Rs. 3000/- p.a. per student to the host institution for providing infrastructure for all subjects.

Escorts/ Reader Assistance: – Rs.2000/- p.m. in cases of Physically Handicapped and Blind Candidates for all subjects.

The selection for RGFNS will be made by an expert committee on the basis of merit.

The applications in the prescribed format (available at may be sent to Mr. Joginder, Deputy Secretary, (SA-111), University Grants Commission, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi-110002 duly forwarded by the Registrar/ Director / Principal and competent authority of the Universities / Institutions / Colleges where the fellow desires to undertake research work latest by 20th March 2011.
