DST SwarnaJayanti Fellowships 2010-11

Government of India had instituted a scheme “The SwarnaJayanti Fellowships” to Commemorate India’s fiftieth year of Independence. Under this scheme a selected number of young scientists, with excellent track record, are provided special assistance and support to enable them to pursue research in frontier areas of science and technology. The fellowship is scientist specific and not institution specific, very selective and has close academic monitoring.

NATURE OF SUPPORT: The support will cover all the requirements for performing the research and will include a fellowship of Rs. 25,000/- per month for five years. The fellowship will be provided in addition to the salary they draw from their parent Institution. In addition to fellowship, grants for equipments, computational facilities, consumables, contingencies, national and international travel and other special requirements, if any, will be covered based on merit.

Scientists selected for the award will be allowed to pursue unfettered research with a freedom and flexibility in terms of expenditure as approved in the research plan. The project should contain innovative research idea and it should have a potential of making impact on R&D in the discipline.

DURATION: The duration of the fellowship will be for a period not exceeding five years.

ELIGIBILITY:

The applicant should possess Ph.D in Science/ Engineering/ Medicine.

Scientists should be active in the frontier area of science and engineering with outstanding contributions in the form of research publications and/ or patents, peer recognition from scientific community, awards etc. in his/ her area of research.

The fellowship is open to Indian Nationals residing in India or abroad.

The scientists from abroad can choose to work at any S&T institution within India.

However, he/ she will have to submit a letter from Head of the institution at which they wish to pursue research, stating that administrative and basic infrastructural support to facilitate research will be provided.

The institute should also undertake financial and other management responsibilities of the project throughout the five year term in case fellowship is awarded to the scientist.

The fellowship is open to scientists between 30 to 40 years as on December 31, 2010.

SELECTION: The selection procedure will include consideration at various stages. The Department constitutes a Subject Committee which screens applications received and calls the screened in applicants for presentation. The candidates shortlisted after presentation by the Subject Committees will have to make presentation to the National Core Committee of Experts which gives its final recommendations. An empowered Committee of Secretaries will make the final selection based on the recommendation of National Core Committee.

Scientists selected for the award should have accomplished innovative original research in frontier areas of science and technology.

CSMCR JRF position 2011 walk in interview

Central Salt and Marine Chemical Research Institute invites for walk in interview for JRF/Project Assistant Level-II. Interested candidates are requested to appear before the Selection Committee for written test & interview on 18th March, 2011 at 10.00 A.M. in this Institute. You are requested to bring with you attested/self attested copies of certificates/ testimonials. You are also requested to bring with you the following documents:

1. Original Certificates(s), Marksheet(s) (Degree/Diploma, etc.) of the educational qualifications, certificate in support of the date of birth etc.

M. Sc. with 55% marks in Chemistry. CSIR-JRF/NET-LS qualified candidates will be preferred.

General Conditions:-

No of Posts: JRF/Project Assistant Level-II: 1, depending on the requirement the number may increase to two at the time of interview.

Fellowship: As per DST guideline. CSIR JRF qualified candidates “JRF” – Rs. 16000/- pm; “SRF” – Rs.18000/- pm (fixed). Whereas for CSIR NET-LS qualified candidates “project JRF” – Rs.12000/ pm; “Project SRF” – Rs. 14000/- per month (fixed). HRA is payable as per rule.

Age: Candidates should not be more than 28 years as on 18th March, 2011. However, upper age limit may be relaxed as per CSIR rules.

Job Description: Selected candidates have to work on a DST sponsored project entitled “Developing tailored portable lead sensor based on stripping voltammetry”- this project offers opportunity for Ph.D. degree.

UGC RGNFS (Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship) 2011 for SC/ST M.Phil / PhD in Sciences, Engg & Technology, Humanities & Social Science

University Grants Commission, Delhi invites applications for the award of fellowship for the year 2010-2011 undre Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship Scheme (RGNFS) for the benefit of SC/ST candidates for the consideration to select the candidates for award of fellowship belonging to SC/ST category under the scheme. It provides an opportunity for SC/ST students to undertake advanced studies and research (M.Phil / PhD) in Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Humanities & Social Science in Indian Universities and Colleges.

Eligibility for RGNFS

PG in the concerned subject and registered for M.Phil / PhD in recognized university / institute / college.

Tenure of RGNFS :- 2 years.

Emoluments of RGNFS

Fellowship in Science, Humanities & Social Science

JRF / SRF:- 12,000/- p.m. for initial two years and 14,000/- p.m. for remaining tenure.

Fellowship in Engineering & Technology

JRF / SRF:- 14,000/- p.m. for initial two years and 15,000/- p.m. for remaining tenure.

Contingency A

Humanities & Social Science: – 10,000/- p.a. for initial two years and 20,500/- p.a. for remaining tenure.

Contingency B

Sciences, Engineering & Technology: – 12,000/- p.a. for initial two years and 25,000/- p.a. for remaining tenure.

HRA as per University / Institution/ College rules

Departmental Assistance: – Rs. 3000/- p.a. per student to the host institution for providing infrastructure for all subjects.

Escorts/ Reader Assistance: – Rs.2000/- p.m. in cases of Physically Handicapped and Blind Candidates for all subjects.
