Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships 2011 of Government of Canada for PhD holders

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program of Government of Canada intends to build world-class research capacity by recruiting top-tier Canadian and international postdoctoral researchers at an internationally competitive level of funding.

An applicant’s application to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program must be completed in full collaboration with the proposed host institution.

These prestigious two-year fellowships, worth $70,000 per year, are open to both Canadian and international researchers who have recently completed a PhD, PhD-equivalent, or health professional degree. Seventy fellowships will be awarded each year.


Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada and foreign citizens are eligible to apply to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program.

All applicants for the 2010 Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program must fulfill, or have fulfilled all degree requirements for a PhD, PhD-equivalent, or health professional degree on a date within the eligibility window beginning November 3, 2007, through December 31, 2010. Applicants who have not fulfilled all requirements for the degree at the time of application must do so not later than December 31, 2010, and submit related proof to the Banting program accordingly not later than January 15, 2011. Applicants who do not submit such proof will be automatically withdrawn from the competition.


Successful applicants for the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program will be selected on the basis of the following selection criteria which will be weighted equally by the peer review committees:

Research excellence and leadership in the research domain

Quality of the applicant’s proposed research program

Institutional commitment and demonstrated synergy between applicant and institutional strategic priorities

All applications will undergo a peer-review evaluation by an agency-specific, interdisciplinary peer-review committee. Applications will be reviewed in relation to the stated selection criteria, and each agency committee will recommend to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program Selection Board an unranked shortlist of the 35 most meritorious applicants based on those criteria.

The Selection Board will make final recommendations to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program Steering Committee. In making its recommendations to the Steering Committee, the Selection Board will be asked to specifically assess institutional commitment and alignment of the applicant’s research ambitions with the institution’s strategic priorities.

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program Steering Committee is responsible for approving the final slate of 70 awardees annually and will base its decision on the recommendations of the Selection Board.

Israel Government Scholarship 2011

Applications are invited from Indian nationals on plain paper in the prescribed format for the award of about 4 – 6 Israeli Government Scholarship tenable from October 2011 to study at an Israeli University or any Institution of higher education in Israel. There is no upper age limit for applying for the scholarship.

Value of Scholarship
Terms and conditions of the scholarship will change every year according to the yearly budget of Israel Government for this purpose.

The scholarship could be partial, or in rare cases full.

Partial scholarship will include health insurance and tuition fees OR Monthly allowance for one academic year (8 months only). Full scholarship will include tuition fees, a monthly allowance and health insurance.

Accommodation, transportation and travel arrangements to and from Israel are the applicant’s responsibility.

Candidates who are awaiting the results need not apply if the results have not been declared by 30-11-2010.

Equivalent foreign degree will be considered.

Candidates who have already been abroad for study/research/training for more than six months at a time either on a scholarship or on their own, are eligible to apply only if they have been in India for at least two years after their return from abroad as on 25-11-2010. SAARC Chair Nepal Scholarships 2010 for MBBS and PG

CCRT Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme 2011

The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme is implemented at the national level. The object of the scheme is to provide facilities to outstanding talented studying either in recognized schools or belonging to families of practicing traditional performing artists for getting specialized training in various cultural fields such as traditional forms of music, dance, drama as well as painting, sculpture and crafts, laying special emphasis on rare art forms, which are in the process of becoming extinct. There are hundreds of art forms practiced in our country. Since the numbers of scholarships available are limited, only exceptionally talented and outstanding students need to apply.


The talented children in the age group of 10 to 14 years studying in the recognized schools will be eligible to apply under the Scheme. Date of birth should be between 01.07.1997 and 30.06.2001 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply for the award of scholarships for the year 2011-12.

Minimum four years’ training in the field of art form in which scholarship is being applied, either with a guru or in an institution is essential.

Students applying for Performing Arts are required to submit a certificate from the Guru/teacher imparting training, clearly mentioning the details regarding the training received by them, the Bio-data of the Guru/teacher as per the prescribed format in the application along with three photographs taken at the time of training or any performance.

Students applying for Painting must attach three specimens of their latest work (either original or photograph) and those in Crafts, Sculpture etc. should attach three photographs of latest work, duly attested by their Guru/teacher along with the Bio-data of the Guru/teacher.

Gurus/Parents are requested to ensure that their wards possess certain level of standard in the field while applying. Not more than three (03) students an Institution will be considered for award of scholarship. Only those applicants, whose names are recommended by Central Selection Committee, will be informed about the date, timings and venue of the interview/test by post only, which may be held during the months of May-July 2011 at Regional Level.

The candidate must apply only in one subject/field in which he/she is confident because only one scholarship could be availed under the scheme.

Subject to availability of funds, the total number of fresh scholarships to be awarded every year will be 520, of which 125 may be reserved for children of families practicing traditional performing arts etc. and 20 for Specially Challenged children. The remaining 375 scholarships will be treated as general scholarships.

The children whose parent’s/guardian’s total income is less than Rs.6000/- only per month will be given preference for the award of scholarship. However, the criteria of talent and potential will be taken into consideration for all the candidates.

The Scholarship awarded under the scheme will be initially for two years at a time and is renewable after every two years till the completion of the first university degree stage of education or up to the age of 20 years, whichever is earlier.

Application for the scholarship should be submitted by the parents/guardians in the prescribed form in one field/subject only, after getting necessary recommendations from school/ institution and guru/teacher, where the applicant is studying and receiving training respectively, directly to the CCRT, New Delhi.Duly completed applications from children belonging to the families practicing traditional arts will be obtained through renowned Gurus/Institutions by the CCRT directly.

Application forms issued in previous years, incomplete applications and those without relevant information and documents/specimens/photographs regarding training will not be considered. Those who are already receiving the scholarship from CCRT or any other Institution should not apply again either for new scholarship or for extension. A scholarship holder shall not receive any other cultural scholarship/stipend in case he/ she is selected for CTSS Scheme, without the prior approval of the CCRT.


For the shortlisting of candidates to be called for Interview/Test, the CCRT will constitute a Central Selection Committee, whose decision shall be final.

i) The value of scholarship will be Rs.300/- (Rupees Three Hundred Only) per month for those children who undergo their specialized training at the station where they are pursuing their academic studies at the time of the award up to the completion of first university degree stage of education.

ii) The actual fee paid for the specialized training to the Institution or to the guru/teacher shall be reimbursed to the scholarship holder in addition to the value of scholarship indicated above, subject to a ceiling of Rs.9000/- (Rupees Nine Thousand only) per year.

All payments of scholarship shall be made to the parent/guardian of scholarship holders, who shall be responsible to pay the approved tuition fee to the Guru/teacher and send the duly stamped payment receipts.

Junior Research Fellowship:
(a) The Fellowship shall carry an amount or Rupees five thousand (Rs. 5000) per month with a contingency grant of Rupees twelve thousand (Rs. 12,000) per annum for a period of two years for non-NET students, extendable by one year in exceptional case; for students who have qualified the NET, the fellowship amount shall be Rupees six thousand (Rs. 6,000) per month with the contingency grant of Rupees twelve thousand (Rs. 12,000) per annum for two years, extendable by one year in exceptional case.
(b) Only a scholar registered for the degree of Ph.D. or equivalent thereof at an Indian university shall be eligible for a Junior Research Fellowship. No Junior Research Fellowship will be awarded to students studying for M.Phil degree.
Housewives who are exceptionally bright scholar and are not able to take up a regular career shall be eligible for fellowship carrying the same grant as that of Junior Fellowship (for non-NET and NET) for a period of two years only. In exceptional cases and on the quality or achievement, it may be extended for a further period of six months only.

General Fellowship (Post-doctoral):
(a) The Fellowship shall carry an amount or Rupees six thousand (Rs. 6,000) per month with a contingency grant of Rupees twelve thousand (Rs. 12,000) per annum.
(b) Only a scholar who has obtained the degree of Ph.D. or equivalent from an Indian or foreign university or has published work of equivalent merit to his credit shall be eligible for the Fellowship.
(c)The duration of the Fellowship shall be two years, which may be extended by one year after assessment of the Fellows work by the Research Projects Committee.

Senior Fellowship:
(a) The Fellowship may be awarded to a senior scholar who has established his reputation by his published research work.
(b) The amount of Fellowship shall be Rs. 8000 per month with a contingency grant or Rs. 36,000 per annum.
(c) The duration of the Fellowship shall be two years, which may be extended by one year in exceptional cases

National Fellowship:
(a) The Fellowship shall be awarded to an Indian scholar of distinction, who has established his reputation for the researches he has already published, and who wishes to undertake research of a fundamental or innovative character under the Fellowship.

(b) The Fellowship shall be awarded by the Council upon the recommendation of the Research Projects Committee for a period of two years extendable by one year.

(c) It shall carry a sum of Rs. 25,000 per month with a contingency grant of Rs. 50,000 per annum.

Fellowship for Foreign Nationals:
In case the applicant is a foreign national, the terms of the Fellowship shall be laid down for each case by the Research Projects Committee, but the duration of the Fellowship shall not ordinarily exceed one year, and the work specified in the award shall be undertaken in India.
