AISRF 2010-11 (Australia-India Strategic Research Fund)

Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF) a joint initiative between the Indian (Department of Science and Technology) and Australian (Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research) Governments. The AISRF supports Indian researchers to collaborate with Australian partners on leading edge science and technology (S&T) in order to contribute to India’s economic, social and environmental wellbeing.

The priority areas of research for Round Five of the Indo- Australian S&T Fund are:

· Agricultural Research;

· Astronomy and Astrophysics;

· Environment Sciences (including climate change research);

· Micro-electronics Devices and Materials;

· Nanotechnology;

· Renewable Energy;

· Marine Sciences;

· Earth Sciences; and

· Information and Communication Technology.


Seek support for a bilateral collaborative research project or workshop in one of the priority areas of research;

Have obtained the agreement of their proposed Australian research partner to undertake the project activities;

Be one of the following ‘eligible organisations’ (or a consortium of eligible organisations):

Education institution;

UGC recognized Universities/ Deemed Universities

Academic Institutes and National Research & Development Laboratories/Institutes

Public sector research agency; or

Private, not for profit, research organisation

Address each of the Assessment Criteria

Seek funding for eligible expenses; and

Not seek funding for activities funded under another Indian Government program.

Eligible activities and expenses

Under the Indo-Australian S&T Fund, the Indian Government will support the direct costs of bilateral collaborative research projects or workshops in one of the priority areas of research.

Indian side will provide for the following expenses:

International economy excursion class return airfares for Indian researchers travelling to Australia to participate in collaborative research projects and workshops.

Living expenses, including accommodation and meals, for Australian researchers travelling to India to participate in collaborative research projects and workshops.

Indian side will contribute a maximum of Indian Rs. 1000/ per person per day or Indian Rs. 25,000/- per person per month whichever is the lesser amount and Guest House

Accommodation Charges

Manpower-Salaries and on-costs for Indian researchers are as per DST norms.

Projects may range from short bilateral collaborations to more complex projects spanning up to 3 Years

Post-Doctoral Position at IISc Bangalore

Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore offers exciting opportunities for pursuing advanced scientific research in frontier areas of vibrational spectroscopy (Raman and IR spectroscopy).Candidates can carry out a research project on Laser Raman Spectroscopy. Intermediate Fellowships 2011 for Researchers in India

This scheme supports excellent scientists who wish to undertake high-quality research and to establish themselves as independent researchers in an academic institution in India.

The fellowship is for five years.


Applicants should normally have between normally have between four to seven years research experience at a postdoctoral equivalent research experience. It is not essential for medical or veterinary degree holders to have a PhD.

Candidates need not be Indian nationals but must already be pursuing or intending to pursue an academic research career in India.

The candidate must have a eligible sponsoring host institution in India and a sponsor who will guarantee space and facilities. The  sponsor must hold an established post at the host institution.

As the India Alliance does not permit Fellows to overlap their India Alliance Fellowship with any other national or international Fellowship the candidate must choose between the current Fellowship and the India Alliance Fellowship if holding any other Fellowship.

The cndidate should complete and submit a preliminary application form by the published deadline.

Preliminary application will normally be assessed within one month of the submission deadline.

If successful, you will be invited to submit a full application.
