SBI Probationary Officer Recruitment 2015 – Preparation Guide
State Bank of India invited applications for recruitment of Probationary Officers for the 2015 session. The salary, job security, social status etc. make SBI PO one of the most competitive examinations in the career field. From this year onwards SBI is conducting 3 examinations for the recruitment process. Phase I Examination will be a screening test to select candidates for the Phase II Main examination. Phase II exam contains an MCQ examination with a descriptive paper. Phase III and the final recruitment step consists of a GD and Interview.
New Examination Pattern of SBI PO examination 2015
The SBI PO exam 2015 contains a Phase I Screening Test and a Phase II Main examination.
Preliminary (Phase I) Exam Pattern
The Preliminary examination of SBI PO 2015 contains 100 MCQ questions for 100 marks. The duration of the examination is 60 minutes. The topics are
- English Language – 30 Questions-30 Marks
- Quantitative Aptitude – 35 Questions – 35 Marks
- Reasoning Ability – 35 Questions – 35 Marks.
The SBI PO Preliminary examination cut-off will be decided by the bank in such a way that the total number of candidates shortlisted for the main exam will be 20 times of the total number of vacancies.
SBI PO Main Exam (Phase II) Pattern
The SBI PO Main Exam subjects and pattern are exactly similar to the SBI PO examination held till year 2014. It contains 200 MCQ questions for 200 marks. The time It contains the following topics
a) Reasoning (High Level) – 50 Questions – 50 Marks
b) Data Interpretation and Analysis – 50 Questions – 50 Marks
c) General Awareness, Marketing, Computers- 50 Questions – 50 Marks
d) English Language – 50 Questions – 50 Marks
SBI PO Preliminary Exam syllabus
The SBI PO Preliminary Examination is expected to be an easy one, Expect questions in the standard of SBI Clerical grade examinations. The detailed syllabus will be like:
Reading Comprehension, Spotting Error, Fill in the blank, Para-jumbles, Cloze Test, Sentence Re- Arrangement
Number Series, Ratio Proportions, Problem on ages, Percentage and Averages, Profit and loss, Mixtures and Allegations, Simple and Compound Interest, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Probability, Data Interpretation
Syllogism, Input-output, Coding-Decoding, Seating Arrangement, Inequality, Data Sufficiency, Logical Reasoning.
SBI PO Mains Syllabus
English Language: A total of 50 questions are expected, Important areas are Reading comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar Corrections, Identification of Errors in sentence constructions, Jumbled sentences etc. Expect High standard questions in Comprehension, rest of the questions will be in moderate difficulty.
Reasoning : 50 questions will be there in this section also. Expect the difficulty level to be on the higher side for this section. The important areas are Logical Reasoning, Arithmetical reasoning, Analytical reasoning, Series completion, finding missing figures, Completing number and alphabetical series, Analogies / decision making, Puzzle / Seating Arrangement
Data Analysis and Interpretation : 50 questions in this section will be in easy to moderate difficulty level. The following sections are considered important: Data Interpretation and manipulation questions from Charts, Graphs and Diagrams including Line charts, pie charts, bar charts and tabular data. Application level questions from probability and statistics, The data manipulation of these questions will contain of time and distance calculations, BODMAS rule, Calculation of speed and distance, calculation of area, volume, perimeter and application of formulas in algebra, geometry, functions etc.
General Awareness, Marketing and Computer: In this section 10 questions each are expected from Marketing and computer awareness sections and 15 questions each are expected from Banking awareness and current affairs sections.
General Awareness – Current Affairs, Budget, Questions related to UN and International Affairs, Recent banking news|
Computers -Basics, Hardware and Software, Operating System, MS Word and Excel, Internet, Abbreviations, Android and Apple related news
Marketing- Basics of Marketing, Developing stage of organization, P’s and C’s of marketing, Marketing Strategies, Products Life Cycle, Marketing Mix
SBI PO Descriptive Paper (Paper II) Syllabus
In this section, expect questions relating to Letter writing (Usually official letters in connection with the normal functioning of a bank branch), Essay and Paragraph writing (Usually related to bank functioning and economy), Precis writing and Reading comprehension.
