Multi-disciplinary research centre in Lucknow University

LUCKNOW, Aug18: The Lucknow University formed a global task-force for setting up a multi-disciplinary research centre in Lucknow University in association with the University Grants Commission. It aims to be a centre of excellence in the near future. The preliminary focus of the centre will be on the theme "global changes in the Gangetic plain" with a special emphasis on "environment and sustainable development". The present member departments are Geology, Zoology, Botany, Sociology, Economics, Social Work and Regional Centre of Environment and Urban Studies.

The University authorities re developing an integrated programme plan with the research reports that are expected to receive from member departments immediately. It is expected that Rs 30 crore will be sanctioned by UGC for further research work. The new Centre will place Lucknow University in an advantageous position in the education and research scenario.
