A biotechnologist can work in the following specific areas of application:
• Clinical Molecular Geneticists: These specialists use biochemical and molecular biota techniques to identify genetic abnormalities associated with disease. Screening takes pta both before and after the appearance of disease symptoms.
• Clinical Research Associates: These biotechnologists set up, monitor and compk clinical trials. A clinical trial is a scientific study of the effects, risks, efficacy and benefi of a medicinal product.
• Microbiologists: They observe and monitor the development and effects of microbesi close detail in order to protect public health.
• Research Scientists (Life Science): These scientists design, plan and investigate experiments and fieldwork in order to advance and apply knowledge of biological and natural phenomena. Some carry out research with a definite end-use in mind, such aa new product, process or commercial application, while others' research focuses < broadening knowledge and building on previous progress.
