There are several methods for evaluating the effectiveness of communication process:
1. Attitude and morale surveys-An idea of the effectiveness of the communication can be gathered from the attitude and morale surveys. Under this method, subordinates can be asked certain psychological questions on the parts of questionnaires prepared for this purpose. Questionnaire surveys may include communication and reactions and opinions of particular practice.
2. Study of labour problems—Sometimes, the effectiveness of the communication system may be measured by analysing the records of safety, health, turnover, absenteeism, discipline, complaints and grievances etc. It may help understand how the employees have understood the communication in terms of instructions orders etc. A good communication system produces good employee behaviour and relations.
3. Interview- An interview may be organised to evaluate the efficiency of the communication system. The interviewer may ask several questions regarding the organisation and its activities which may help to understand how well and to what extent the subordinates have understood the messages, instructions and orders.
4. Written surveys—Under this method, a questionnaire containing different types of questions is prepared and the employees are asked to answer to the questions. The following types of questions may be asked.
(a) Where did you get the information?
(b) How do you think about it?
