It is happy to know that from June-2011, CSIR-UGC exams have the following changes.
1. All the 3 papers exam format from the previous year(s) pattern is getting converted into 1 single exam.
2. And the new exam (with One single paper) will be conducted on objective type questions only. (No descriptive pattern hereafter).
This brings the following thougths...
1. When will UGC-NET (for the non science subjects) will adapt the same pattern for the other (other than CSIR-UGC) exams?
2. Why couldn't either UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR couldnt think about bringing this pattern in the earlier years itself.
Further thoughts about these things...
1. As each PG/M.Phil candidate who had to take up this exam, has already proved about his essay writing skills and memory skills from the days of school, Pre-University, UG, and PG exminations. Why do they try to test the same skills in these examinations (Particularly through the Paper-III examinations)?
2. As it is accepted world wide that the objective type examinations are best to judge a candidate's ability to know the finess for the job. Why dont UGC recognize this and still continuing testing candidates in the old traditional university examination pattern?
3. As the syllabus is very vast, instead of testing the students memory skills, why cant they change the pattern immediately (as how CSIR-UGC has changed it now) to objective type pattern for the whole examinatinos? As none of the lecturer is going to handle a class in a college for all these subjects in one session without referring any book or notes. What is that UGC's intention behind following this pattern of examination adamently under this context?
4. If it is standard and quality exam, why do they allow SLET and what is the point that majority of people prefer SLET over NET? Means SLET is easy to clear? If yes, this defeats the whole purpose of NET and its so called quality and standards?
5. The real intention behind this exam is to select people or to reject people?
6. Why can't they bring a similar exam for engineering faculty? Why do they allow a mere M.E/M.Tech university degree is enough to teach in engineering colleges? If that is fine, then why do they enforce a separate exam for Arts and Science streams alone?
7. Who is going to answer these questions?
8. If they change the pattern as CSIR-UGC changed now, following would be the benefits students get.
* Results can be published soon.
* They can conduct 4 exams per annum (so a candidate would get double the chances to appear into that exam) instead of 2 as at present.
