TN to Curb Capitation Fee.

The TamilNadu Government pleaded before the Supreme Court to vest powers of the state to regulate admissions in the colleges of the state.

TamilNadu Government expresses anxiety over increasing Capitation fee and unwanted commercial practices in education. The State want to control and regulate affairs of admission in all institutions in TamilNadu. Mr. K K VenuGopal, the senior counsel for the state, pleaded with the Supreme Court to permit a state legislature entitling another legislation for the ban of capitation fee in the state. He quoted the conditions of less affluent and meritorious student who are falling back in the commercial race in education. He argued the necessity for a single window system of admission and the fixation of fees.
